Kimia Pertama (M) Sdn Bhd was incorporated on December 20, 1985 as a wholly Malaysian owned company. Initial staff strength then was 5 persons and the company operated from rented premises in Damansara Jaya (office) and Kepong (warehouse).
The company started off distributing chlorinated solvents and glycols from the Dow Chemical Co. The range of chemicals from Dow enabled Kimia Pertama to service industries like the electronics, metal stamping, air-condition, tobacco, toiletry, pharmaceutical, medical devices, etc.
As the Malaysian industrial landscape evolved, so did Kimia Pertama. Along the way the company acquired hydrocarbon solvents from Total Oil, alkanolamines and polyethylene glycols from Ineos, Trichloroethylene from AGC and other chlorinated solvents which Olin Corp acquired from Dow. Today the company is not only distributing straight chemicals and solvents, but also offers custom thinner blending services to customers especially in the printing industry.
On October 3, 1993 the company moved to its own building in Bandar Sunway light industrial area in Petaling Jaya. Finally, on January 2, 2008 the company relocated to its present premises in Kota Kemuning. With nearly an acre of land, and with both the office and warehouse housed under one location, the company is able to practise better flexibility and co-ordination, thus enhancing a higher level of customer service and satisfaction.
